At CW + O’Brien Architects we are aware of the rich and varied architectural history here in Ireland and around the world.
At C+W O’Brien Architects our work aims to be cognisant of the rich and varied history of architecture in Ireland and around the world.
We endeavour to respect the character of historic buildings through a careful and informed conservation approach, including:
We work with specialist collaborators to provide measured surveys which identify and record existing and original built fabric. Our design approach when working with historic structures is informed by RIAI recommendations for best practice in conservation, including detailed research & analysis. Furthermore, here at C+W O’Brien Architects we provide conservation reports and strategic assessments, which include solutions for the successful re-use of historic buildings and protected structures, in both the public and private sectors.
Our recent work includes the renovation & extension of several buildings on Ormond Quay, these have been re-imagined as the Aparthotel we call Ormond Locke. The Georgian & Victorian Quay fronting buildings are on Dublin City Council Record of Protected Structures. Our role in the project included the preparation of a conservation report, analysis, design & site operations for the soon to be delivered Ormond Locke building on Dublin’s North Quays.
