The Fumbally Hotel, located in Dublin’s historic Liberties, is undergoing a significant transformation to create a modern, sustainable, and functional space. This redevelopment involves substantial modifications to a mixed-use site, which includes a Protected Structure situated at the prominent intersection of New Row South, Blackpitts, and Fumbally Lane.
The project shifts the focus from single-occupancy shared units to a hotel-centric development, increasing the total number of hotel rooms to 235. Architectural updates include adjustments to floor levels, enhancements to the Protected Structure’s façade, and a redesigned ground floor featuring a welcoming reception area, a communal lounge, a versatile café/lounge/event space, and a co-working area.
Sustainability is at the heart of this project, with innovative measures such as eliminating the basement and relocating plant facilities to the seventh floor, which will also house a green roof. These changes blend historical preservation with modern design, creating a development that respects the past while addressing contemporary needs.
By integrating sustainability, heritage, and functionality, the Fumbally Hotel redevelopment represents a new chapter in Dublin’s urban evolution, enhancing both the local community and the city’s rich architectural tapestry.
